My interest in Dietetics goes back over 25 years ago. I was in my first year of college doing part time office work at a cardiac rehab center. I remember watching the Dietitian working with her patients to help reverse their cardiovascular disease. When I saw what an impact she made, I knew becoming a Dietitian was the career path for me.
I graduated from LIU Post in 1997 with a BS in Nutrition. I then completed a 9 month internship with Aramark exploring both the clinical and food service aspects of being a Dietitian. I became a Registered Dietitian in 1998 after sitting for the exam and haven’t looked back since!
I have worked in an acute care cardiac rehab, but where I have spent many of my years working is at a sub acute rehab/long term care center. It is here that I have witnessed the long term effects of chronic disease. A healthy nutritious diet has been shown to help lower the risk of these many diseases including obesity, heart disease, diabetes and certain cancers. It is my ultimate goal to help others understand this and be able to help prevent these conditions!
During these past many years my husband and I have been happily raising our family. We have two daughters and a son who have kept and continue to keep us quite busy! I’m also a self proclaimed cat lady, we currently have three kitties!! My exercise of choice is walking. It can be pushing myself hard on the treadmill or just taking a peaceful walk outside. I've always found walking the best for both my physical and mental health.
I love and enjoy food as well! I love cooking and the challenge of trying to please and nourish three totally different kids over the years is one I think I have met pretty well! I enjoy finding new nourishing recipes that feed both the body and mind. Self care comes in many forms and eating nutritious foods is one I think we should all give to ourselves.
I am enjoying being part of The Rite Bite team so much! Change that lasts doesn't happen overnight and I am excited to be with you every step of the way. I have enjoyed working with my new clients and can’t wait to work with many more of you!
