Metabolic Rate Testing

Slow Metabolism? Our State of the Art Equipment Can Identify That

We are one of a handful of practices on Long Island to offer the ReeVue Resting Metabolic Rate Test, which tests your metabolism and gives us a precise calorie level based on your own body's results, not a generic calculation. Patients are not required to get this test however, for patients experiencing trouble with weight loss it is recommended.

ReeVue Metabolic Rate Test

The Reevue, is a simple 10 minute test that measures the oxygen your body consumes and carbon dioxide output. Using this measurement, your Resting Energy Expenditure (REE) can be calculated, commonly referred to as a Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR). Our Registered Dietitians will then use the ReeVue to screen for alterations in metabolic rates (AKA if a patient has a fast, slow, or normal metabolism) and to determine the precise caloric intake you need for weight loss, maintenance, or weight gain. The test is FDA approved.

3.

Avoid stimulants such as caffeine or cold medicaitons. Prescription medications should be taken according to schedule.

Strong Evidence: For weight loss and weight maintenance, the RDN should monitor and evaluate total energy needs and consider one of the following (if necessary): Re-measure resting metabolic rate (RMR) using indirect calorimetry, since measurement of RMR using indirect calorimetry is more accurate than estimating resting metabolic rate using predictive equations...
