Meet the Rite Bite RDs - Emily Sicinski, MS, RDN, CDN

Hello, everyone! My name is Emily and I am beyond excited to be joining the Rite Bite team.

My pursuit to become a dietitian started 10 years ago, but my interest in nutrition began quite some time before that. In my adolescent years, I was a pointe dancer. As I got older, I became more aware of the connection between the food I ate and my performance on stage. I delved into online searches about nutrition and performance, and I became so invested in understanding how nutrition worked that I decided to pursue it as my college major.

I spent the next 6 years studying at Hunter College in Manhattan, New York. I obtained my bachelors and masters degrees in Nutrition and Food Science. As I sat through my courses, I began to realize how complex the science of nutrition truly is, and just how misinforming the internet and media can be. Who would have known that every single nutrient we consume plays a vital role in our most critical cellular functions and complex metabolic pathways? There was no denying that once I graduated college, I wanted to get out in the field and share all I had learned with those eager to learn about it.

Following my academics, I completed my Dietetic Internship at Stony Brook University. As an intern, I gained valuable experience in acute care, long term care, outpatient counseling, food service, community nutrition, and research. I learned how to apply all of the knowledge I gained in college to help people in all different stages of life. I gained not only the experience necessary for my career, but the passion to work with others to reach their nutrition goals as well.

My philosophy is that when it comes to nutrition, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. As a dietitian, I take time learning about each of my clients to gather all the information necessary to make sustainable changes that will work for them and last a lifetime. Nutrition is important in every stage of life, and I love having the opportunity to help others achieve their goals in both general wellness and illness prevention and management.

Amidst establishing my professional career, my fiancé Kevin and I have also been working to establish our roots together. We bought a house, we’re planning our wedding, and we just welcomed home our first puppy! Her name is Nova, and she is a sable coat German Shepherd. We love bringing Nova everywhere we go. One of her favorite things to do is swim at the beach, and we can’t wait to bring her to all the festivities that fall has to offer!

I am so happy to officially be a part of the Rite Bite family. It has been amazing getting to know my clients so far, and I can’t wait to meet the rest of you!

All the best in health,

Emily
